With every step I took inside Saburomaru Distillery, I felt like I was unlocking a secret compartment in a vast, global treasure chest.

It is a place that makes any whisky lover—including myself—fall deeply and hopelessly in love with its world.

What makes this place so captivating? It is the scattered “gimmicks” and design touches that President Inagaki brought back from his own pilgrimage to the world’s finest distilleries.

He didn’t just build a factory; he curated an experience. Everywhere I looked, I saw reflections of global excellence that he had personally witnessed and fell in love with.

As a “Japanese whisky expert” who has also traveled from the rugged coastlines of Islay to the sun-drenched distilleries of the Caribbean,, I felt a profound resonance here.

This isn’t just a collection of machines; it is a manifestation of a life dedicated to the craft.

At Bar Little Happiness in Hiroshima, I try to create a similar sanctuary with my collection of 1,000 bottles.

Seeing the same passion for detail at Saburomaru reminded me of my own philosophy: “Hitsuzen” (Inevitability),. It was inevitable that these global inspirations would find a home in Toyama, and it was inevitable that I would stand there to receive that energy.

Saburomaru is more than a distillery; it is a dream forged from the “best” of the world. When you taste their whisky at my counter, you are tasting a global journey captured in a single drop.
