Bar Little Happiness is in Hiroshima’s Nagarekawa district — the city’s central entertainment area, a short walk from Hondori shopping street and about fifteen minutes on foot from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. We have been open since 2006. I am Mika Tanimoto, the owner and bartender.
What Kind of Bar This Is
This is a specialist whisky and rum bar. We hold more than 1,000 bottles at any given time, ranging from everyday expressions to rare and discontinued bottles that rarely appear outside dedicated specialist bars. The focus is Japanese whisky — including producers that most bars outside Japan do not carry — alongside Japanese rum, and a serious international selection covering Scotland, Ireland, the United States, the Caribbean, and elsewhere.
The atmosphere is quiet and adult. We are not a cocktail bar, though we make cocktails. We are not a party venue. We are a place where people come to drink carefully and learn something, or to sit in comfortable silence with a glass of something they enjoy, or to have a conversation about whisky with someone who has spent two decades thinking about almost nothing else.
English Menu
We have a menu available in English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and several other languages. English speakers are welcome and will receive the same service as Japanese-speaking guests. My English is conversational; the menu will answer most questions independently.
Finding Us
We are at 5-14-1F Nagarekawa-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima. From Hiroshima Station, the easiest route is by tram (streetcar) to Hatchobori stop, then about a five-minute walk into the Nagarekawa area. Open daily from 7PM, closing at 1AM Monday through Saturday and midnight on Sunday.
No cover charge. Walk-ins welcome, though reservations are available through LINE for those who prefer them.
